Job seekers seek philanthropic employers

A majority of people polled in Massachusetts ranked company values and corporate philanthropy higher than other factors in selecting a job, says a survey conducted by Hollister Inc.

Company culture, which includes philanthropy, creative benefits and work environment, narrowly edged out opportunities for growth and employee appreciation as the top factor.

Competitive salary was ranked the least important factor in the survey.

"Employers have come to realize that employees that feel good about the company they are working for are more passionate about their work and feel a greater sense of loyalty to the company," Kip Hollister, the company's founder and CEO, says in a statement.
