Ohio funder launches networking tool

The Columbus Foundation has launched an online networking tool to connect people with nonprofits in central Ohio.

PowerPhilanthopy offers potential donors an online database of more than 340 central Ohio nonprofits.

The groups' online profiles describe their mission and programs, and provide access to financial information and impact metrics.

Donors also can create accounts to help manage their giving.

"We firmly believe the most important tool we can provide donors in the community is knowledge," Doug Kridler, foundation president and CEO, says in a statement. "By sharing our expertise and understanding of the needs of the community and those organizations providing support, we can help people engage in the most effective philanthropy possible."
